'Made In Bangladesh'
This was a very in depth look at what I had only heard about on the news. I always knew that this was happening in countrys like Bangladesh but just to see the shear number of workers and then after, the amount of bodies and devestation caused by the collapse of the 8-story Rana Plaza building was a real wake up call. I bothers me that big companys like Walmart and Loblaws try to distance themselves from the insident and then try to justify that they were powerless victims of unauthorized subcontracting. What we do in our lives has become overwhelmingly dependent on quantity and price, and less of quality, safety, and by the fact that we put workers under dangerous conditions just to wear a shirt bought for $10 only to throw it away after it goes "out of style". Honestly, I hate how other human beings can be trreated this way, but what can a consumer do? Refusing to buy these clothes would result in thousands of women not getting wages and hurting their familes. What then can one do?
